Joanna Read
Owner & Education Director
With over two decades of experience in dance education, Joanna Read is the passionate force behind our studio’s vision.
As Owner and Education Director, Joanna brings a unique blend of artistry, discipline, and leadership to everything she
does. Her training spans classical ballet, contemporary, jazz, and choreography, with a strong emphasis on building not
only skilled dancers, but confident individuals.
Joanna’s approach to teaching focuses on nurturing each student’s potential through structured technique, creative
exploration, and a deep respect for the art of movement. She is committed to fostering a supportive and inclusive
environment where dancers of all ages can grow, perform, and thrive.

Fall Session Dates
Fall Classes begin 8/23/2026 and go until 12/19/ 2026.
No classes Labor Day Weekend or the week of Thanksgiving.
What’s my level placement?
Our general protocol for level placement is that a dancer must complete one full year (Fall & Winter session) of Level 1 to move up to Level 2, etc.
Please note, you must still follow our age guidelines for each class:
To join Tiny Tots, dancer must turn 3 by the start of the session
To join Tiny Dancer, dancer must be 2.5 by the start of the session
To join Pre classes, dancer must turn 5 by the start of the session
To join Youth classes, dancer must turn 7 by the start of the sessio n
To join Youth Level 3 classes, dancer must take at least 2 – 3 classes per week.
Payment
Children's classes can be paid in two installments. There are no payment plans for adult classes, passes, camps or clinics.
Please set up your ACH as credit cards will incur a 2.5% fee.
Can I make up a missed class?
Yes. To schedule a makeup class, please email dovetailstudios@gmail.com. All makeups must be completed by Thanksgiving Break in the Fall Session and Spring Break in the Winter Session. There are only 4 make ups allowed per session. And dancers must makeup in a class of a similar level or age group. Make ups do not roll over to the next session.
Dress Code Requirements
For all classes, a strict dress code is required.

We have dance parties for girls and boys and movement and music parties for kids of all ages! If you want to rent a room for a gathering, please let us know. We can help with that too!
Fairytale Ballet Birthday Party
Step into a magical world of twirls, tiaras, and fairy dust! Your little one’s special day becomes a dream come true with our Fairytale Ballet Birthday Party, where imagination takes center stage. Guests will be whisked away into a sparkling fairytale land filled with dancing princesses, fluttering fairies, and enchanted music. The celebration continues with themed games!
Street Dance (Hip Hop)
Get ready to pop, lock, and party! Our Street Dance Hip-Hop Birthday Party is the ultimate celebration for kids who love to move, groove, and express themselves through dance. It’s high-energy fun with a cool, urban twist! Kids will learn awesome street dance moves, break it down in a fun-filled dance session, and show off their own unique style in a mini freestyle battle.
Pop queens (taylor swift, etc)
Get ready to shine like a superstar! Our Pop Queens Dance Birthday Party is the ultimate celebration for kids who love to sing, dance, and channel their inner diva. Inspired by today’s biggest pop icons, this party brings the glitz, glam, and non-stop fun! Led by a professional dance instructor, kids will learn a high-energy routine to a hit pop anthem, complete with fierce moves, glittery props, and superstar attitude.
