M.K. Victorson has worked as an arts educator in Chicago for over 20 years. A former dancer with the Chicago Moving Company, M.K.’s teaching experiences extend from dance studios to arts organizations to the K-12 classroom. She originated and taught the popular “Kangaroos” class at the Old Town School of Folk Music. M.K. also worked for several years in the education and youth programs at Hubbard Street Dance, where she helped to develop and teach the Autism Project.
M.K. holds an MFA in dance from Smith College and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from UIC. Since 2009, MK has worked as an elementary school dance teacher in the Chicago Public Schools. She is also a dance instruction specialist for the CPS Office of Arts Education. Most recently, she. is a graduate of the Dance Education Laboratory at the 92nd St. Y in New York and the recipient of a 2017 Fund for Teachers Fellowship. M.K. is very happy to teach in her home neighborhood of Albany Park and to join the energetic community at Dovetail.
