Adult Open Level Classes Information

In addition to our session based program, we offer Open Level Classes for adults as well. These are classes are drop in only and are open to multiple levels of dance practice. The dance instructor tailors the class to the students who are currently in the room and is a great way to try out new dance styles. Prices range from $16/class to $18/class which can be bought online on Wellness Living.

Pre-registration and payment is due at least 10 minutes before the class begins.

You may cancel your class up to 1 hour prior to the class start time without consequence (credits will be returned to your account). After this 1 hour threshold, no refunds will be given.

Adult Open Level Ballet Class

SATURDAYS AT 4 - 5:15pm with Joan Oberndorf

Dance no matter what your level! This Open Level Ballet class includes barre, center combinations, and jumps.

Joan Oberndorf Biography:

Joan Oberndorf’s (She/Her) early ballet training was with Bentley Stone and Walter Camryn. She has also studied ballet with Larry and Dolores Long, Orrin Kayan, and Birute Birodicaite, and jazz with Lou Conte and Claire Bataille. As a dancer she performed with Light Opera Works and Topeka Civic Theatre as well as doing industrial work for several corporations including Sperry-Rand and Carson Pirie Scott. Joan focuses on alignment, building strength and proper placement while also stressing musicality as she teaches. She works to enable students of any age or level to move and dance at their fullest potential. As a practicing massage therapist, Joan incorporates her training and experience with bodywork to help the dancers in her class stay injury free.

Open Level Adult Hip Hop

THURSDAYS AT 6:30 - 7:30pm with Tone Wolf

This is a high-energy, choreography based class; which infuses commercial dance, with the original forms of street dancing. Students will learn various choreographic combinations, while building confidence, grooving, and having fun!


Tone Wolf Biography:

Wolf started dancing with Culture Shock in 1997 and for the past 25 years Wolf performed with Culture Shock in Washington DC, New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego and many cities in the US and Canada. Anthony Wolf continues to work with producers, directors, photographers, casting directors, choreographers, production companies, television, cinema, interactive media, and fashion venues for casting services

Open Level Adult Popping and Locking

SATURDAYS AT 12 -1pm and WEDNESDAYS AT 7:30 - 8:30pm (starting NOVEMBER) with Tea Buggz

This class covers the fundamentals of major styles such as tutting, robot, snaking, Boogaloo, locking and animation. This class is suitable for students of all levels of experience but is geared towards beginners and intermediate levels. The class consists of drills, choreography and some history.


Torrence Griffin, also known as Tea-Buggz, has been dancing hip hop for 34 years. He is proficient in popping, waving, ticking, king tutting, dancing the styles of animation and mannequin.

He began dancing in 1981 on the South Side of Chicago with the original Electric Funkateers, which quickly became one of the premier pop-locking dance groups in the city. In his 34 years of dancing, he has worked with the likes of Genuine, Queen Latifah, Sinbad, Kurtis Blow, and many others which led to his travelling extensively throughout the U.S. other parts of the world.

In 1984, Torrence won the Chicago Hip Hop Pioneer Award which acknowledged all of his years of hard work and dedication in the Chicago hip hop scene.

Torrence strengths as a teacher are his ability to break down complex movements into smaller, more digestible parts and he prioritizes giving individual attention in his fitness and street dance classes.
